CommUNITY Event

Each September, the Columbia Police Department hosts its annual commUNITY event, a family-friendly gathering designed to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the community.

The event features complimentary hot dogs and hamburgers, along with participation from local first responders, including fire and emergency medical services personnel. Residents have the opportunity to meet officers and other public safety professionals in a relaxed, welcoming environment.

The purpose of the commUNITY event is to foster positive interaction, encourage open dialogue, and build lasting connections between the Columbia Police Department and the citizens it serves.

National Night Out

National Night Out is "America's Night Out Against Crime" sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch. The Columbia Police Department coordinates a citywide National Night Out (NNO) observance annually to:

  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
  • Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back

For information, call the Community Oriented Policing Unit at 931-560-1647 and visit the National Night Out page.
